AGM 2011

President's Report

It gives me great pleasure to present to you the 2011 annual presidents report.
We are continually told that our club is the best. I believe there are a number of things that make this happen.
Our committees very strong belief to make people welcome when they walk through the door.
The music definitely adds to the atmosphere. It is very important to pick the right music I must commend Erin for the great effort she puts in to bringing the music to our club.
We are a social Rock n Roll club and keeping competition dancing out of our club is a very big factor in keeping our club the friendly club it is today. Talking to many clubs who in fact do have competition dancing in their club can definitely lead to rivalry within the club which is not what we want.
Keeping the lessons light and having the help from members week after week at the lessons. I thank you for your help through the year you have made my job so much easier. (and that of the new dancers) I would like to thank Berni very much as my assistant also for stepping in to teach when I can't make it.
The committee who work tirelessly both on club night and behind the scenes. I thank you.
I have decided this year to stand down as your president and hand over the reigns. Except for one committee member who has resigned due to ill health all are re-standing this year.
I would like to pass our very good wishes out to Chrissy Crawford our committee member who is standing down. Chrissy is an inspiration to us all.
I would also like to pass good wishes to Jim who has had a huge battle this year after a road accident, but you can't kill weeds he is re- standing and will be back on the scene.
I would like to thank Lenore and Darryl for their total support throughout the year and wish Lenore well in her new position of President.
Nigel our Treasurer has kept us on our toes throughout the year and continues to do a great job.
Bernie our Secretary took the job on last year and thankfully is restanding this year.
Erin our music officer has done a great job and is restanding after many years on committee.
Tina our PR lady continues to do a superb job and is also thankfully restanding this year as Vice President.
Celane our membership officer another great job throughout the year and is restanding also after many years service.
Brian and Herman who are our stand in men wherever they are needed Setting up the hall helping at lessons helping on the door etc etc etc. I would also like to thank Tom and Marianne who took our Web page in hand and have resurrected it to the standard they have it today. Thank you.
I could go on thanking people all night but finally I would like to thank you our members who make this club the friendly club it is today.

Thank you

Beach Hop 2011
Whangamata 23. - 27. March 2011

Off to Whangamata for the weekend we went
For a lot of fun and frolic and the Rock n Roll event
While dancing and singing all the time
In the beach hop we had.. a whale of a time

Noleen, Carol, Ross, Daryl and Lenore
The parade was great with classis cars galore
With cupcake adorned Bernie and Brian
Exuberant was the spirit in spite of the rain

We danced and we stand till our feet got sore
With Lisa, Linda, Gail and Lenore
We filled our souls with clean fun and laughter
With a great club of people here in after

So for all you folks who did not come this time
Get ready next year when the beach hop chimes
For you cannot imagine the laughter and fun
You will have with the club in the Autumn sun

Top Town 2011

Team Effort

Hibiscus Coast Rock & Roll Club First equal !!
A great weekend was had by all Hibiscus Coast members that headed to Hamilton for the annual Top Town event.

Fun, laughter and camaraderie abound at the top town games, we participated in some whacky events, crawled around the field, filled buckets with water, pushed each other on trolleys....

President Nolene in Action
Most outstanding was our president participating in the custard & cream eating competition !
Nolene gobbled her heart out and was going for gold!

Dancing in the evening was hilarious with many dancers creating entertaining partnerships on the floor. Mark managed a few forward rolls, Nolene broke out into break dancing! Lenore and Daryl bribed the judges with chocolates!

Cup Cake Girl
Our joker " Miss Tina Cup Cake " won the joker competition. Her cakes were in hot demand!!
Thanks to Lenore for the hard work in making the costume.

We managed to come first equal with Drifters!! A spin of a $2 coin decided on the host club for next year - we missed out on this by a tail!!!!

If you get the chance next year to attend - take the opportunity - you won't be disappointed!
